Emily Goes to Argentina
In 2008, Emily Hudson won the AFS sponsored “Award for Excellence” scholarship to study abroad. This award is a highly competitive honor given to about 120 American students who exhibit the qualities that indicate they will make a difference in our world.
The criterion for judging includes:
- Academic Excellence (minimum 3.5 GPA or equivalent)
- Leadership
- Community Service
- And most importantly, Ambassador Qualities (students who exhibit what it means to be an ambassador and represent the United States of America)
Top Student
In 2008, Emily was awarded Top Civics and Economics High School Student (underclassman) chosen from 2,500 Myers Park High School students in grades 9th through 11th. The award was based on thorough understanding and creative application of the Government and Economics fields of study.

“Kids Board of Directors”, chosen as one of fourteen kids in the U.S. through creative marketing essay submission, the only child in NC, was awarded top board contributor out of the 14 board members in the country for her community service work, and creative contribution and was awarded a $5000.00 college scholarship.
Screen Actors Guild Eligible Actor and Professional Model
Represented by Elite Model Management and JTA Talent out of Charlotte, Emily has appeared in numerous national commercials, TV shows, and films such Spy Kids, Target, Jeep, Hasbro Toys, Neiman Marcus, JC Penny, Radio Shack, Dillards, ect. She has also appeared as the lead in numerous theater productions, such as Laura Ingalls Wilder (Laura), Lion, Witch and Wardrobe (Susan), Annie (Annie), Christmas Bus(Emma), ect. She has earned over $20,000 for college expenses through this work.

School Awards
- Voted Outstanding Citizen in the School by the school administration
- Voted “Most likely to be Bill Gates” by her peers
- In the Community, she created a theater show for an after school program called “A Better World”, and recruited fellow actors to perform and befriend the kids who were less fortunate
- School Oratorical Contest 2nd place winner (1st place winner won the state contest).
